Saunas / BUYING GUIDE

What to ask an electrician before buying a sauna

Collect the product information needed for a site-specific assessment.

Start with the exact equipment

Ask the supplier for the installation manual, electrical requirements and model identifier. Send those documents to the electrician with photographs of the proposed location. A general description such as “two-person sauna” is not enough to assess a specific installation.

Ask for an assessment, not a guess

Have the electrician explain what work is required for the proposed product and location, what is included in the quote and what assumptions could change the price. Do not infer a circuit or connection requirement from another product that looks similar.

Clarify the handover between trades

Confirm which party assembles the equipment, which party performs the electrical work and who checks the completed setup. Ask what must be ready before each appointment. Record the sequence and responsibilities so the delivery team does not arrive before the site is prepared.

Keep the cost separate

Add the quoted electrical work to the installation line in the comparison tool. If it is already included in a supplier’s total, record that clearly and avoid adding it twice. If the cost is not yet known, leave the field blank until it has been confirmed.

Keep the final documents

Retain the product manual, written quote and relevant completion records. If you change the model after obtaining advice, have the requirements checked again. This guide is a question list; it does not provide wiring, circuit sizing or do-it-yourself installation instructions.
