How to build a better cost estimateBuild an estimate you can use
- Start with a written quote. Include delivery, access costs, installation and any electrical or site work.
- Check running costs. Use your electricity tariff and an average consumption estimate that reflects your climate and settings. Include filters, cleaning supplies and scheduled servicing.
- Allow for quieter weeks. Try fewer uses per week to see how the cost per use changes. Download each scenario if you want to compare them.
The download includes your inputs, results and exclusions. It is created in your browser; this calculator does not save your figures. Keep the file if you want to return to the estimate.
What this calculation includes
Upfront cost = equipment + installation. Annual running cost = daily kWh × tariff × 365 + annual maintenance. Three-year cost = upfront cost + 3 × annual running cost. Cost per use = three-year cost ÷ (uses per week × 52 × 3).
Electricity consumption varies with the product, climate, settings and use. Enter average daily consumption, not cooling capacity or a horsepower rating. The estimate excludes financing, repairs, inflation, water charges, resale value and your time. Add those separately where relevant.
