Start with the current manual
Ask for the care schedule for the exact tub and chiller combination. A retailer’s general article may cover several product generations. Record the manual version, model and date checked, then ask the supplier to confirm that they match the quoted equipment.
Create four lines in the budget
List replacement filters, approved treatment and testing supplies, water changes, and any scheduled service. Record the unit price and your assumed annual quantity for each. Add delivery charges where consumables must be ordered separately. Do not assume everything will be included in a starter pack.
Show the calculation
Annual consumables cost is the sum of each item’s unit price multiplied by its expected quantity. For illustration only, 12 items at A$20 each plus four items at A$25 each total A$340. This is a budgeting example, not a filter-change schedule or a supplier quote.
Include time as well as money
Ask what needs checking between uses, weekly and during longer periods away. Ritual’s published guidance makes clear that an automated chiller still has ongoing care requirements. Follow the current instructions rather than using a generic treatment recipe or extending replacement intervals to meet a budget.
Keep missing prices visible
If a supplier has not confirmed a price or interval, leave that cost marked unknown in your comparison. A precise-looking annual total built on missing items is less useful than an honest range. Recheck the budget when you have actual ownership experience.
