Smart Rings: Compare Fit, Features and Ongoing Cost

Compare Oura Ring 4 and RingConn Gen 2 Air, including membership costs and checks before ordering.

Compare the ring and the app together

A smart ring purchase includes more than the hardware: you will also use an app, its data settings and any paid features. Decide which information you want to review and what you would do with it. For pace or distance visible during a run, compare a running watch instead of assuming a ring will serve the same purpose.

These two products illustrate different payment approaches. They are not interchangeable feature-for-feature, and we have not tested either.

Put recurring costs beside the purchase price

At the published Oura rates, 36 paid monthly charges total A$359.64; three annual charges total A$329.97. The difference is A$29.67. These calculations exclude hardware and introductory offers and assume no price changes. They compare paid billing periods, not the exact first three years after activation. Oura advertises a complimentary first month for new members; check eligibility and billing timing.

Use the correct sizing process

RingConn says its sizes differ from ordinary rings and other smart-ring brands. Follow the exact brand and model’s instructions rather than transferring a size from jewellery. Check the process for confirming size, changing an order and exchanging a ring. A sizing kit helps assess dimensions; it is not a trial of the electronics or app.

Check how it fits your activities

Consider work, sport and any activity where jewellery is restricted or uncomfortable. Follow the manufacturer’s wear and care instructions and relevant workplace or venue requirements. Write down when you would remove and charge it, where you would store it and whether the resulting gaps matter to the reason you are buying.

Review data access before signing up

Check export and deletion controls, account requirements, optional permissions and access after cancelling a paid plan. Read the privacy policy for the services you would actually enable. A promising score or dashboard is not enough to justify sharing more information than you are comfortable providing.

Choose using the full cost

Add the ring, required accessories, delivery, tax or currency costs where applicable, and any membership. Do not treat a USD sticker price as an Australian delivered price. Use the comparison worksheet to keep both offers on the same basis.
